  Silly and very didactically overloaded, but I liked it anyway. Surprised to find that I was able to get over my more serious impulses to enjoy the ride, while appreciating the themes despite them not being all that rigorous.

  Very beautiful settings and costumes -- a lot for history geeks to appreciate. Wonderful performances all around, and some wonderful shot compositions (as well as a few that don't work). Cool makeup and special affects. Fairly sleepy movie, without enough substance to chew on, though.
