The Vanishing 1988
Had to give it some time to digest, as the demerits of this film kept me from fully relishing the core of it, and satisfyingly enough, led me towards a subjective conclusion that I feel lines it up significantly with Funny Games (my all time fav). This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Might be too early to say, but it’s edged out a hair past Hereditary for me in terms of my favorite by Ari Aster.
Having had such a positive experience with Bardo, I think I can definitively say I just love bizarro worlds like these, packed to the brim with chaos and caricature to further amplify these terrible feelings we get about ourselves and the world.

Skinamarink 2022
Was a really great hypnagogic experience whenever I was peering out from underneath my hand covering a majority of the screen. Super effective in making the fear of a child your fear. Some moments of loud = scary which doesn’t do a lot for me, but they’re inoffensive. Also could’ve cut about 20 minutes off and gotten the same effect. Either way, very happy that stuff like this is making money, I hope Kyle Edward Ball finds great success in his career from here on out.
