Too much telling rather than showing
Walking into this movie, I expected a fair share of preaching—as VM's trailer had set the expectation. But, this preaching could have helped with more showing rather than just telling.
I understand VM's emphasis was on the preaching of ideologies. I appreciate the film's attempt to educate us—explaining the intentions behind various actions like the origin of leftist and rightist ideologies, topics I had heard about frequently but never fully understood.

The screenplay is the crux of this whole film and still remains fresh & innovative till this day. It is framed to simulate the protagonist’s condition. It has 2 flows, one that moves from start to mid-point in black & white and another that moves backwards from the end to mid-point in colour.
