One of the best “fuck you” movies I think I’ve ever seen. After reading Revolution in 35mm, I couldn’t wait to see this Coffin Joe flick. The entry in that book depicts Marins as a little indie horror filmmaker that was bullied by the military state, causing him to make increasingly political films. While the criticisms of the state (and of Brazilian society) are certainly in his first few features, it’s here that he directly addresses things.

It's a tough thing to say but having seen more than half of Zulawski's work now, this might be his most vicious piece. Consistently, his work is always vicious, but here this is an outright condemnation of Polish society of this time. Everyone and everything is ugly, despicable, and savage.
