Why Does Herr R. Run Amok? 1970
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
You’ll be shocked at how engaging these apparently normal scenes of middle class life. Pay attention to the title and they become a mystery to unravel. Every performer is superb. Naturalistic, free of melodrama, relatable, with just a hint of dry comedy. It implies that a million tiny things to be dissatisfied with can make a monster, despite an outer shell of respectability. Shows that budget is no obstacle to cinema that passes the shower test (whether you are still thinking about the film in the shower the next morning).

Mickey 17 2025
Wild. Has the relentless unpredictable plottiness, silly but wry humour, and a caring eye for made-up sci-fi creatures of Bong’s other work. Robert Pattison is brilliant as the two Mickeys, who you don’t need any visual markers to distinguish as his voice and performance do the necessary characterisations. Reminded me most of Okja in its general nuttiness.
