As pretty as it is, don’t let the visuals of Midsommar distract from single beat characters that walk around under the sun for an hour and a half desperate for plot with a disjointed dropping of such riveting side-plots as “hey, dude, that’s my thesis”.

I Am Keiko 1997
Keiko Suzuki and Sion Sono gift the world with a prescient, touching, present, and (paradoxically) timeless collaboration in I Am Keiko. While Keiko chronicles the time elapsing until she turns 22 years old, she captures the spectrum of emotion found in the calm, near-ennui of a moment as a living-dying rate of change.
