The first film in the series is so good compared to the rest, I can’t lie. The movie is grounded and has a police investigation through line to keep you invested. The deaths feel real and uncomfortable to watch occasionally unlike the other films which can go for a wacky gore fest(which this film can indulge in too, don’t get me wrong).

Mickey 17 2025
There’s very little to not love about Mickey 17. Bong Joon Ho proves to be a consistently amazing director and one of my favorites. If every studio comedy felt this purposeful and fun to watch, comedies wouldn’t be dead.

Rope 1948
The most tense dinner party you’ve ever seen.
No wasted time in this film. Everything serves its purpose. The characters are perfect and James Stewart continues to be one of my favorite actors.
Stellar camerawork too. Editing the film so the party plays in real time is perfect.

The Monkey 2025
To get one thing clear, this movie is a comedy through and through. That being said, it’s a pretty fun comedy. The first half is definitely better than the second, both in the jokes and pacing. While the second half isn’t as great and can seem pretty slow, it still comes with plenty of fun moments and kills to keep you engaged. Not what I expected but was pleasantly surprised.
Bonus points for being set in Maine.
