Totally fine but nothing special. Great for a little kid but I found the music forgettable and feel the film lacks some of the charm of the older cartoons. Perfectly current and unbearably sad.

I first saw this film as a sheltered innocent goth kid on a date with my boyfriend in the theater at age 17. I remember it as a revelatory and very sexy experience, very formative, cementing my early love of Kubrick and my determination to live in New York, igniting my curiosity about both Ligeti and sex parties. Seeing it again as a jaded 40 something, it sure hits different: deeper, truer, more absurd, more bittersweet, and funnier. Considered with other Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman performances, these are among career-best. Earns all the stars.
