My ratings tend to skew positive because I try to watch good movies.

Enemy at the Gates 2001
I had always known about Enemy at the Gates, but I finally decided to pull the trigger when I learned it was about the Battle of Stalingrad. The film delivers on the large scale I hoped for, with massive battle scenes and hundreds of extras, making it feel like a true war epic. However, the central story didn’t fully engage me. I would’ve preferred a broader, more comprehensive view of the battle rather than an intimate story focused on a semi-historical figure.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2004
I remember exactly where and when I was when I first saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. While it isn’t quite as profound to me as it was back then in 2008, I still greatly admire this movie’s creativity and themes. The film is a remarkable artistic achievement with a brilliantly structured screenplay and surreal yet intimate direction. Jim Carrey delivers his best non-comedy performance, but I never cared for Kate Winslet’s character: annoying and cloying (with terrible, distracting hair) instead of endearing. The central message—that love is never worth forgetting—remains powerful and always worth revisiting.

Hundreds of Beavers 2022
Hundreds of Beavers is the kind of movie that demands a packed theater and a few drinks to really hit right. Unfortunately, on my couch—despite being sufficiently inebriated—it’s just barely passable. There’s at least one big laugh involving the sled dogs at the campfire and its aftermath, but the film ultimately feels like a short stretched well past its breaking point. There’s a reason Looney Tunes kept things under 15 minutes—turning a live-action cartoon into a feature-length endurance test is a lot to ask, even for a drunk viewer.

SNL50: The Anniversary Special 2025
Such a step down from the 40th in every single way. A dud from the opening monologue onwards. A complete missed opportunity
