Memories of Murder 2003
A truly unique movie in the crime thriller genre. With every movie I watch of Bong Joon-Ho, I become more in awe of his vision. The pacing and storytelling always feel very unique (in that its not layed on painfully thick) I was gripped from beginning to end.

Ik geef Matthijs het maximum aantal sterren dat ik kan. Ik zou hem een heel universum van sterren willen schenken. Ik gun hem zijn universum, de thuis die hij nooit heeft kunnen afmaken.
Het lag echter nooit aan Matthijs, maar aan de wereld rondom. Vol onbegrip, tegenwerking en regels. Had iemand maar echt geluisterd, hem echt begrepen, dan had er iemand hem misschien geholpen.
De pijn die ik voel bij het zien van zijn verhaal is onbeschrijfelijk. Zijn pijn schraapt…

This movie feels like a wonderfully weird dystopian fairytale dream and I’m totally here for it.
It starts very slow and quiet and in the first half you really don’t know what to expect from it. Then suddenly the pace really picks up and the plot gets really intriguing.
