What is this? I don’t know how this wants me to feel. I just feel confused. If this was not a pick for movie club, or part of this endeavor, I would’ve shut this off. It’s frustratingly incoherent.

Death of a Unicorn is interesting but also inconsistent. I love the ideas that it’s playing with, but it doesn’t execute them well at all. It’s very on the nose with all of its themes and doesn’t really have much to say. It gets a couple laughs here and there mostly from Will Poulter who knows what kind of film he’s in and really plays it up, but everything else it’s just a lesser version of something seen before. I wish I could’ve liked this more, but there wasn’t much to latch onto or interest me.
I love that a studio took a risk with this project, and I hope other studios don’t get discouraged by how this does regardless if it is successful or not. It’s chances like this that give us unique films. I always love when Sci-fi shows me things I haven’t seen before, and asks complex questions you may not have the answers to.
