You do have to watch intently to understand but geez it really blows you away. The colour grade was a huge highlight for me, Denis understands the power that colour holds. I’m about ready to inject every Denis Villeneuve film directly into my veins!
I think a lot of the time this was just an excuse for some full frontal nudity in film BUT they’re robots so it’s weird if you like it, ok?! Liking robot boobs is like looking at your roomba and thinking “yeah this is way sexier than my manual vacuum”
4am watch. Holding a baby. No make outs. Probably wouldn’t be makeoutable even at night with your significant other.
I’ve had to sit with it for a while before reviewing. I initially was disappointed at the end, I felt like it started with so much promise and kinda dwindled toward the end. However, on reflection I am more impressed. It was genuinely creepy, more of a thriller than a horror but kept me engaged and guessing throughout. The music choices were phenomenal, some very good performances, beautifully shot and graded. I kinda want to watch it again with new eyes.
