    The Ides of March

The Ides of March, politics, why not.

A cast led by Ryan Gosling and George Clooney make up a Democratic Primary race headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. The cast was sold, Clooney played the role of a politician organically.

Firstly, the cinematic elements of this film were well done, which I find truly impressive for a generally complex theme that is politics.

The screenplay was pretty decent. At times it could’ve been more in depth. However, I’m glad that I wasn’t…

    Old School

    ★★½

Well, Old School wasn’t as great as I first remembered.

In wake of Will Ferrell’s comedic prime of the 2000s, he surrounded himself around familiar faces like Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson. The film is about the cast aspiring to relive their college glory days, the cast performed decently as a whole.

This charade of cheesy jokes and unexpected matchmaking is supposed to poke fun at smut romance novels… in this case the prophecy becomes reality.

For a comedy film the laughs were less seldom than I would’ve liked. Also, the graphics were acceptable but easily convincible for being fake.

The cinematography benefits from an awesome tropical location that makes for…

    A Scanner Darkly

    ★★★★

A Scanner Darkly is a mind bending, lucid animation film.

Robert Downey Jr. trumps fellow co-star cast members such as Keanu Reeves and Woody Harrelson. While Winona Ryder and Rory Cochrane make for solid supporting characters.

Firstly, the animation style is headache inducing for the first 15 minuets.

However, the choice to animate proved to be apt for the depiction of drug use. This is a major risk that I believe paid off massively.

Overall, the screenplay felt genuine. The…
