I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to this film….. what I’m writing is thought vomit.
The way Miyazaki portrays Indigeneity, Indigenous connection to the Earth and Nature, and how humans have and can live symbiotically/in equilibrium with all living beings satisfies my soul.
This film covers extractivism and exploitation in a nuanced way. It covers anthropogenic climate change without being dooms day-ee.
I think by having Lady Eboshi as a gray character truly shows how complex…
