alternatively subtitled, "The Cassandra Complex and the Counterculture"!

specifically waited months to watch this with someone without spoiling myself... and it was just as fucking incredible as i expected it would be!!! fully deserving of its acclaim, the style and editing are just as Transgender as the lead characters themselves and carry even the weaker spots slightly held down by Oedipal Trauma trope.

Glad I double featured this with the criminally underrated Folie A Deux, because now I get to experience the worst movie by far of 2024 and one of the worst musicals I've ever seen!

Lin Manuel Miranda and his consequences have been a disaster for the world of film. This movie made me annoyed at France. This movie made me annoyed at Zoe Saldana. This motion picture actively made me yell "discount Daveed Diggs" at the screen.

Vile transphobic filth that is exactly the type of pat-on-the-back autofellatio that pretentious cis-capitalist cinema institutions eat up like hotcakes. Jacques Audiard, go straight to hell

I didn't like the coloring choices! Or the suspicious Britishness of this supposedly German setting! Or the needless abundance of g-slurs! Or the thematic implications of that whole "old East Europe vs new West Europe" beginning (which the original greatly suffers from as well)! Or the sexless sexuality that doesn't change up until the final third of the film!

    Willem Dafoe was great though.

I don't know, I didn't like this at all. Didn't excite or scare or challenge me.
