The Wailing is worth watching for the visuals alone. The Korean landscapes and cinematography are legitimately stunning.

It’s a spooky little ghost story. Nothing to keep you up at night - but I love that it relies on mood and practical effects. There are almost no cheap jump scares or bad CG.

While I was invested in the story - and I’m sure some things went over my head - it seems pretty vague and open to interpretation, which didn’t…

So much fun - inventive and entertaining.

Even though some plot beats are paint-by-number, you can feel the heart from everyone involved.

Flashy yet understandable set-pieces, a few laugh out loud moments, and the music choices are fantastic.

Novocaine really solidified for me that Jack Quaid is a movie star. Charming, funny, and he holds your sympathy and support all the way through.

If you just want a good time and are okay with some pretty gnarly (but fun) gore, this is a sure win.

    Ummm what?

I did not expect this to blow me away. I never saw a trailer, and only knew Aubrey Plaza was in it. I like her, but expected this to just be a funny little raunchy comedy. Not even close.

Fantastic acting all around. Plaza and the male lead are great - but Maisy Stella will be a star if she gets the right roles. Even the side characters that could get away with half-effort cliches really give it…

That ending was everything. I’ll be obsessed with this trio for years to come.

Shot beautifully and edited with incredible energy. The time jumps keep you on your toes, but never confused - a rare and usually under-appreciated accomplishment.

When the stakes are low, but at the same everything is on the line… the movie has me. The concepts and characters are thought-provoking and fully realized.

Trent and Atticus scores simply don’t miss - a match made in heaven.

This feels like a perfect 5-star film, but I’ll reserve and revisit down the line to make sure it holds up.
