Close 2022
What an absolute gem of a film.
This has been, to date, the most emotional collective experience I've ever had in a filmtheater. The lights went on and you could see, not one soul had't been moved to tears by this powerful depiction of friendship, mental health, early adolescence and grief. The performances are stunning and the script was so delicate and elegant in its depiction of loss... one could only contemplate what was missing inside of each of us.

The Brutalist 2024
For such a majestic opening scene, one would think the rest of the film will keep it as grand, but by the end it felt like I was watching a different film (where's the epic score?)
And, I get it. It's an uncompromising cinematic statement about the creation of a gigantic, uncompromising architectural statement. But, even when the first part didn't feel as long as the last 20 min; it really didn't need to be that long.
