Portrait of a Lady on Fire 2019
Everything about this film is captivating. From the visuals to the sound this film not only captures you from the very start but leaves a mark on you.
The strong acting and direction shows not the same love story that’s been shown through cinema for as long as I can remember but the connection between two people so deep you feel like you’ve experienced it yourself, even if you haven’t.

Little Women 2019
Greta Gerwig truly was robbed for an oscar nomination with Little Women. From the use of lighting to represent childhood vs adulthood to the seamless transitions between the March’s childhood and where adulthood has placed them. Amongst other things the way Florence Pugh’s portrayal of Amy is by far my favourite giving the viewers a different perspective on the character than what is seen in previous adaptations. As always, Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet gave amazing performances both separately and together their on-screen chemistry is undeniable.
A modern twist on a timeless story that I undoubtedly will continue to watch over and over again.

It Chapter Two 2019
Overall good watch but VERY long and VERY jumpy. The adults were paired perfectly with their younger counterparts with Bill Hader giving an amazing performance as Ritchie and the kids still maintained the natural chemistry and character performances as seen in It: Chapter 2’s predecesor

Joker 2019
Joaquin Phoenix’s haunting take on the clown prince of crime left me leaving the film with such sympathy for the joker but yet so uncomfortable at the same time. It’s worth noting it would be nowhere near as good without Phoenix taking the lead role. With similarities to Heath Ledger’s portrayal it’s no surprised Phoenix has received such high praise.
However, the side characters and surrounding elements did not add anything to the story and film with the introduction of the Wayne family and elements of the batman series being of no relevance whatsoever to the storyline.
