A film called “The Substance” with no substance.

Highly enjoyable, it managed to entertain me for a sustained period of time which is rare for me these days. Good character development and a good balance of humour and action.

I would rather have spent the time trying to rip my eye lids off than watched this film. Slack jawed.

Michael Fassbender as his best, and Steve McQueen at his best too... Raw, real and a true depiction of denial and pain. I saw this back in 2011 and it touched me then, but given my knowledge and experience over the last 9 years, there’s a lot to be said here. I had a twitter exchange with composer Harry Escott some years ago to congratulate him on his work, the same congratulations are deserving again.
