  Blow-Up 1966

  William Friedken ranted and raved about this, so I had to check it out. For me, it lived up to the hype. This is insanely shot. Michelangelo Antonioni keeps my attention with every frame. I'm totally sold and want to check out more of his work.

  Now, as for the film's story and narrative. It's purposefully hard to grasp but not hard to understand. If that makes sense. You don't know where Antonioni is coming from. You can't contain all the elements going on in this film, and quite frankly, I was fine with that.

  Mark Isham's score is sooooo good. It gives me some sort of feeling of like serene longing. I think it really enhances the movie because for an action film from the 90s, the music could've been hella cheesy and forgettable.

  Quadrilogy Special Edition

  If you're able to separate this from the rest of the franchise and see Resurrection as its own thing, you can have a good time with this. This is a high end B-movie and should be viewed as such.

  Some really fun sequences, the swimming/ladder scenes in particular. Extraordinary practical effects. The lab with the failed clones and the alien hybrid are absolute masterpieces. And the cast is stacked. I'm a nerd, so you give me Michael Wincott, Brad Dourif, Dan Hedaya, and Leland Orser in the same movie, I'm calling this a classic.

  My Bloody Valentine 1981

  Uncut 4k restoration

  The first time I watched MBV, I was underwhelmed and a bit disappointed. I wanted more blood and gore, but I also was put off by what I considered at the time the soap opera elements to it.
  Now, granted, this is the uncut version, so my rewatch was enhanced by all the kills being restored but I feel now that I'm older I can appreciate the slow pacing and dramatic interplay between the main characters.
