I threw the pearl of my soul into a cup of wine. I went down the primrose path to the sound of flutes. I lived on honeycomb.

Blue Velvet 1986
I think the key word to describe this film is: distinct. It is so unmistakably David Lynch and so unmistakably Blue Velvet. As much as I hate to adhere to cliché, this film is made better and more impactful after his death and definitely made me think a little harder than usual.

So I don’t have any bullshit left, I just ran out of it you see
For a captivating 117 minutes I sat in front of my television screen amazed and bermused at this conjugation of poignant political and social commentary whilst simultaneously laughing my way to high heaven. This is in the highly coveted realm of films that left me speechless and aching to discuss it at the same time. BravoTranslated from by

Blinded by the Light 2019
Watched in media studies, genuinely the cheesiest and most secondhand embarrassing thing I have ever watched. Not even because of the dialogue, which is offputting at best, its the editing, it takes what would be heartfelt and touching moments in a better film and make them feel indulgent and undeserved. Obviously still has positives and would definitely uplift me if I was 11 and hated my life. 4/10
