    You can be a winner, a loser, or a character. Gleason does so much with so little. The rest of the cast is also firing on all cylinders. Laurie and Scott have delightfully miserable chemistry. Wish I liked the middle part more.

    Disgusting: I cannot in good conscience endorse a film that dares to depict a romantic relationship between a doctor and their patient.

    The more prevalent relationship between cousins also goes a long way in removing the magic from the romantic scenes in this film, especially as it's only acknowledged in a few lines of dialogue and never actually interrogated.     My new favourite take on Red Dragon, having read the book and watching the (also very good) six episode arc in Hannibal. I haven't seen the B**** R***** adaptation yet, but I don't see how it can stand up to this. That being said, Ralph Fiennes as Dolarhyde is promising, and my main reason for watching that version aside from just getting to see more of Anthony Hopkins in his best role.

    Aside from being a victim of its own hype and therefore feeling slightly underwhelming, Longlegs is really good. I can't poke holes in much of the filmmaking, though, I felt it was a bit too reliant on sound cues for some of its scares, but with moments as brilliant as that opening scene it's hard to properly begrudge the film for such a thing.
