The convoluted-ness of some Nolan’s movies can be so annoying and by the end of this movie I was begging for it to end. He just gives off a “I’m the smartest person in the room” vibe to the viewer. Meh.

The Vietnam War 2017
A triumph of documentary film making. All sides accounted for in one of the most complex conflicts in human history. Amazing and effective soundtrack throughout: Nine Inch Nails repeatedly playing throughout the 2nd episode as the North Vietnamese build up their army, “Magic Carpet Ride” as an American pilot waxes poetic about napalming the Ho Chi Minh Trail, “Are You Experienced” to an overlay of combat footage, “What’s Going On” to end the poignant episode dedicated to American disgruntlement with the war, “All Along the Watchtower” as Saigon falls, etc.. Just an amazing overall work and a reason why PBS/Burns must be protected at all costs.

Mulholland Drive 2001
Saw at Midtown Art Cinema.
I'm still at a loss for words, but the biggest thing I take away from this movie is how so many directors have tried to mess with time and linear narrative via dream sequences and are obviously trying to emulate this movie. This movie makes Christopher Nolan seem very unoriginal.
I will probably never know how to fully explain this movie to someone else. And what makes me comfortable about that is that I suspect that the "not knowing" is a major theme/point of the movie. I'm going to be thinking about this one for a long time.Translated from by -
