In hindsight it was obvious.
Clearly the best “movie” this year (might have been more compelling stories and characters) but this movie was fantastic from top to bottom.
The acting, the music, the tone, the way it was shot (35mm!), all superb.
At moments I loved all the characters, yes literally at some moment I did like everyone at least once, and I think I despised them all at some point too. Is it the greatest story ever told?…
Incredible film, perfect movie. Feels bigger and more important than just a movie. What Mel Gibson and his team did here was insane.
Only the second David Lynch movie I’ve seen (Mulholland Drive) and I was absolutely floored with how cool and also straight forward this movie was.
Straight forward is a bit misleading but if you’ve seen Mulholland drive you’ll feel me.
Tremendous American talent was lost when Lynch passed away but a legacy that includes a film like Blue Velvet is an incredible testament to the individual and visionary that was Lynch.
Dennis Hopper is superb, and the cinematography is sweet. Couldn’t recommend more strongly!
