No Country for Old Men 2007
Hadn’t seen this in 10 years. Was almost like a first time watch.
Everything is pretty much perfect. Beautifully shot, great performances, and the story doesn’t try to do too much. It’s a perfect two hours long.

Nosferatu 2024
Wanted to finish Eggers’ filmography (Northman) before commenting on Nosferatu.
Before seeing the Northman, I considered Nosferatu the most complete of his films and my personal favorite. I still think Nosferatu is probably his “best” film, but man the Northman made it close for me. Hard to compare the films to be fair because they are pretty different in style - Northman being an action epic/revenge tale.
Nosferatu succeeds in almost every aspect. Beautiful set designs that make you feel…

The Northman 2022
Wow. While the Northman doesn’t offer as noteworthy individual performances as Eggers’ other films, it more than makes up for it in other ways.
It’s natural backgrounds - set in Iceland for most of the film - are the most impressive of his filmography and really steal the show. It also has, by far, the most action sequences of any of his movies - I’m a sucker for them and it was cool to see Eggers really succeed there.
Alexander Skarsgard is an absolute beast.

Black Hawk Down 2001
Went on a war movie kick on the plane to and from NYC.
13 Hours - much better than I thought it would be. Debated giving this one four stars but performances (as was expected) holds back a tad
Black Hawk Down - worse than I thought it would be. Non-stop fighting for the entire movie, reminds me of the second half of Full Metal Jacket. Just hard to genuinely pay attention.
