An easy 10/10 for me.
Among themes of what it means to belong to a community and the way that Spike Lee manipulates the perspective of the film to model audiences experience, I’ve seldom watch a film that has gripped me this much.
Full of fun homage to older films, biblical stories and mythology, DtRT explores how conflict can often be caused by our inability/unwillingness to put our goals aside for the well being of the community.

I expected to like this movie much more than I did. I love Anno’s work in the EVA Series and was excited to see his vision of Godzilla.
CGI looks ok for most of the movie and really good for a few scenes in particular (including the scene that inspired me to watch this movie to begin with)
This film left me feeling unsatisfied mostly, but I’d imagine it’d be fine to throw this on when friends come over and have a laugh (like we did)
How often do you consume a piece of media that fundamentally changes the way that you view the world? How about a film that wraps beautiful animation, cinematography, philosophy, psychology and sci-fi into one dense package?
End of Evangelion is more than just a movie to me, but a foray into the world of media literacy and criticism. I have seen this movie over 10 times and still to this day find scenes to analyze and themes to discuss.
