The Night of the Hunter 1955
Sublime film and holds up to the highest degree. Score and musical motifs were phenomenal. Pacing was great after first act and I enjoy a film that speeds up rather then slows down.
Thematically it is stellar and scary. KJV and shadows both play themselves as the main characters. In back of my mind I was wondering how they were able to make this with Hays Code but they deftly and completely maintain the moral character of the movie in my opinion.
Underwater scene was the shot of the film but this is just gorgeous at every frame. And brother are those shots long and luxurious.

La Bohème 1994
Watched this like a year ago. Absolute masterclass and great introduction to opera. Appreciate the updating of time but could have been set anywhere. Timeless story of navel gazing hipsters and almost made me cry but when I was going to I looked at Francis and he was laughing.

Graceful cinema. Simple and stunning style. Gorgeous narrative. Much weeping and gnashing of teeth displayed in the criticism of the this film per abhorrent character or manic pixie dream girl etc. put all these people on pay no mind list. Conservative and deeply vulnerable message conveyed in this film. Been wanting to watch for a while and glad I did
