If you had told me in 2008 that Robert Pattinson was going to be one of the more exciting actors of our generation, making surprising turns in films by acclaimed directors, I would have laughed at you and moved on. But here we are.

I am reserving my right to change my rating because I think the movie is a  "temporal pincer movement" and I am only halfway through. I think it requires a second viewing for the emotional through line to connect. But as Nolan’s homage to the spy genre with a very Nolan-y twist added in, I thought it was great. Didn’t really care about the characters until the end, which I hypothesize is kind of the point. I think knowing their journeys will make a second viewing rewarding and put all the pieces of this monster film in place.
