Jarmusch really is on a different wavelength. In college, I started watching backwards through his movies with my girlfriend at the time. This was after seeing Paterson and being charmed by a style of filmmaking that somehow seemed effortless. I remember thinking “this guy must really like himself.”
My relationship ended before we got to Night on Earth, but tonight I continued the legacy, bringing back fond memories from a relationship that ended about as badly as one could. It’s not hard to see the ways I’ve changed since then. The films of Jim Jarmusch, on the other hand, haven’t changed much at all.
