A gorgeous film that uses Callas’ own demons and hallucinations to help move the story of her life along, and leaves the audience wondering at times if the people she is talking to are real or just in Maria’s own mind. Although Lorraín does not go quite as surreal as he did for Spencer, this film definitely has his special touch of making moving biographies with a twist. The choice to use Angelina Jolie’s voice mixed with Callas’ own worked…

Living 2022
A lovely, sweet story and a wonderful retelling of Kurosawa’s Ikiru. Bill Nighy’s performance was indeed academy award worthy but up against those of Fraser and Butler, he was sadly overshadowed. His performance allows the story to grasp us in such a way that it remind us all to take a step back and look at life in a different way examining how we effect those around us. The nomination for adapted screenplay was rightly deserved but it was certainly, also, over looked at the academy awards for Cinematography.
