Gimme Shelter 1970
Beyond the way it breaks apart the structure of concert film, Mayseles achieves a kind of rhythm here from image to image that is pretty remarkable. Ultimately Gimme Shelter reveals how even the slightest choices, where you point the camera, at what precise moment you cut the footage, can late bare a filmmakers intentions.

Fiennes does well here, and there are some attractive (if on the nose) shots in here. Feels like the end of this is not paced well and wraps up a little too bow on top for me. I think sometimes the cardinals outside of our main character and the eventual pope feel like caricatures of their political beliefs which can dull down how inherently personal the whole ordeal is. Also not really buying the ending, nothing about the first 2 hours suggest so many people so deeply entrenched in their belief would just flip to the most radical option but idk.
