Feel like it’s hard to call a film that was nominated for 7 Oscars and won 2 underrated. But man this deserves a lot more discussions as one of the best films of the last decade.

Untold: Johnny Football 2023
As the greatest athlete I’ve seen play, when I was in high school I consumed any and all Johnny Manziel content that existed. If you told 16 year old me in 2013 there’d be a Johnny Manziel documentary on Netflix, this is the last type of documentary I would’ve imagined.
He forever changed the trajectory of what would become my alma mater a few years later but unfortunately at the cost of the trajectory of his own life.
Everyone knows…

Shiva Baby 2020
Watched this on a recommendation from a friend. At times felt like I was watching a Safdie brothers film with the tension, holy hell. Seligman did an amazing job using the score to really amplify the tension, at times I found myself grimacing for minutes on end waiting for scenes to end. What a film debut.
I’ve always been Team Gilligan when it comes to the use comedians as serious actors and here is no different. Hope to more of Rachel Sennott going forward.
Never seen a Fred Melamed role be a disappointment and that streak continues.
