Friedkin’s damnation is the illusion of free choice and hell on earth is believing fate as a malleable form, purgatory. I love how disarmingly frank everything unfolds, no foreshadowing or mystery, every road leads to the inevitable consequences of our own actions. All we can do is dance in the face of tragedy, which despite its bleakness, its kinda bittersweet and life affirming at the same time.

A tragically lonely vision of desire, shame and unsynchronized love. Equivalent to watching a polaroid that never finished developing, an unfinished painting, forever longing. Equal parts tender and devastating, finding solace while craving for a transcendent human connection and through cyclical acts of self-destruction. What I love about this film is that in its attempt to humanize Trump, it never excuses or justifies his actions, nor does it cover up the immoral makeup he's curated for himself. Interesting insights and reflection on starving power dynamics, the making of a political monster and the influential individuals, ideologies and systems that uphold and reward this behavior.
While all of this is great, it's not entirely something we don’t already know. I just wished the film continued…
