  I had pretty low expectations coming in, and yes the CGI dwarves might not have been the best choice, but they do fit with the tone and they’re also unexpectedly charming. And I didn’t like the villain song, it had an odd frantic energy that didn’t make sense to me. But, overall, this movie was surprisingly delightful.

  Many of the scenes were breathtakingly beautiful—the lighting, the composition, the color. I felt like I was looking at a Thomas Kinkade painting…

  My hopes were a little too high. Compared to the first one, Moana 2 left a lot to be desired. Still fun moments and beautiful animation, but the story was weak, the characters less developed (especially the villains), and the songs tried too hard to copy the previous but fell flat without the magic of Lin-Manuel Miranda.
