This is about as confusing as Inland Empire. And funny enough, the rating breakdown on Letterboxd is about the same.
None of the plot makes any sense whatsoever, and Shinji is the most unlikable character for 99% of the movie. Awful.

There’s something refreshing about watching a mediocre superhero movie. Not too overdone and over produced. Backstory with ancient bug was explained enough to know what was going on, without feeling the need to over explain every detail. We don’t need to know the exact science behind Miguel transferring his bug code over to the scar guy. And it works! Good plot, nothing fancy, well drawn out final sequence. Strong, well developed themes and consistent characters in the dad and evil…
