I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was lighthearted, fun, and really didn’t take itself too seriously. Although it is a comedy, I thought there were a lot of impressive filmmaking techniques that were used. My favorite of those would be the POV shifts when Ferris talks directly to the camera. I thought this was a really good way of making the viewer feel like another character in the story and that they are going along for the ride. I really enjoyed this movie. The story was compelling with surprising yet realistic twists. The Thrombey family all behave as very believable characters and serve as interesting antagonists. The camera work is also very well thought out, with the filmmaker using both objective and subjective shots to build suspense. My favorite part of the structure was the way that you got to see the same event from multiple people’s perspectives. I thought that was a really interesting way of giving more information to the viewers.
Some movies make you rethink your life. This is not one of them. Possibly the worst piece of media I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Imagine if your aunt who’s having a midlife crisis writes a movie and put it on Facebook, it would probably be pretty close to this.
