The vibes shift from school shooting / terrorism  to natalie portman long island accent / taylor swift fame was JARRING. -jake

Jarring in every sense of the word and a fairly horrific conclusion (and perhaps a fairly prescient one at that, given its 2018 release date) regarding a societal shift towards technocracy, celebrity fetishization,  and capitalist worship at the cost of mass-destruction of our collective past. Leaves ya sitting with that eerie pit-in-your-stomach fear that flashy overly-manufactured horror works just can’t produce. - Uma

this movie made me afraid of vampires for the first time. also didn’t realize how horny vampires are to the core -jake

LRD bounced on that thang crazy, alright. gotta respect her hustle and nos’ desperation. on a serious note, i deeply missed the 1922 fangs and assert nosferatu would never be caught dead with a mustache like this one. PLEASE! im overall happy eggers displayed clear respect for the OG, but found it odd and incongruous that he altered an iconic character in these unspeakable ways. - uma

I was ready to swallow my pride, move past my colleen hoover bias, and like this. I really was!!! Unfortunately not this time. Let’s break this down:

    - Movie is set in Boston (this is mentioned multiple times and seems important) but was CLEARLY filmed in New York City.
    - Flashbacks completely disrupted the flow and created disconnect
    - Saying this movie ‘glorifies’ domestic violence gives it too much credit, but DV was used pretty much as a plot device…
