I have cried twice today. Once because today I cut my finger really bad at work. I think you can figure out the second one.

While I need mofe time to digest the second half, the first half, ambience and mood from the opening through leaving Orlok’s castle are top notch and just brilliant. It is all the stuff that happens in the return to Wisborg isn’t per se bad, but questionable. Getting in some more truly terrifying and disturbing scenes, the film doesn’t collapse but does go down in quality then. I’ll have to watch the film a second time to decide how significant of a step down I truly consider it.

When this movie first came out I was getting into horror and was interested in seeing the movie until a friend of mine told me it wasn't a horror movie. That really pisses me off having just seen it, because that was a damn good horror movie. DELIGHTFULLY creepy and focused much more on being unsettling than meaningless jumpscares (although there are a few), this movie will get you scared to turn the light off tonight.

Another fantastic Kore-Eda film. The happy moments in the film light up your soul and the moments of desperation these children survive through illicit some very true reactions that are usually hard to muster. A true tragic and incredibly sad basis and Kore-Eda’s deft hand make this a movie that’s definitely going to stick with you.
