NOSFERATU shakes the cobwebs of modernity off the bones of vampire myth and wreaths them in the bloody flesh of ancient folklore nightmares. Better than most any other film I've seen, it understands the intextricable toxin of allure that has kept the creature haunting our dreams for centuries.

I'm pretty sure Hideaki Anno transformed Ür-text for self-absorbed anime sad-boy antics into the nerdiest and most expensive love letter imaginable, dedicated to his wife. It's absurd, barely coherent, maddeningly obtuse, and borderline unwatchable at points. It's perfect. I absolutely love it.
