Moonrise Kingdom 2012
Simply stunning, the landscape photography and the image composition are exquisite. The performances from the young actors especially are pitch perfect. I'm glad I finally connected with this film having previously struggled to do so!

The Darjeeling Limited 2007
I really think this is the first film where Wes fully utilised *that* camera style; the lateral movement, the right angles, the gentler whip-pans. It's just so beautiful and so concise and also bizarrely so of it's time in that it's very much set in the mid 2000s complete with an iPod and speaker. I also really love those remnants of the earlier films visual style, those snap zooms and the frenetic tracking shots, this really is just a stunning film from start to finish. The writing and acting are great too 😁
