    The Raid 2

"It's a question of ambition, really. Let me rephrase that - it's a matter of limitation. And the importance of knowing yours."

Featuring undoubtedly some of the absolute best action ever put to film, The Raid 2 ups the scale from the original in every way, but I didn't necessarily find that to be a good thing as a whole.

The first Raid film is a tight, one location masterclass, with a runtime of just over an hour and a…

    Roujin Z

“We’ve got his next of kin’s permission!”
“Perhaps, but do you have his permission?!"

I was really liking Roujin Z a lot for the first 15-20 minutes or so. Bleak Night

This raw, realistic drama hits extremely hard - everything from its writing to its performances and the way it's filmed gives Bleak Night an extraordinarily grounded and authentic feel, and its narrative is told in a way that keeps you compelled to find out just how these troubled teens found themselves in the situation we see them in during the opening scene. It keeps this mystery…

    The Man Without a Face

"You know, I can't see your scars anymore."

What a truly great film The Man Without a Face is!

Mel Gibson's directorial debut is a much different offering from the rest of his catalogue, but nevertheless offers great character work and an emotional, heartfelt story.

He also gives an excellent performance as the titular character here, too, as does the young actor that plays the lead role. This is just an all-round great film that began an outstanding body of work from Gibson, and one that shouldn't be overlooked!
