One of those rare instances where i find a movie more moving than the book. the first person perspective camera, lingering on hands, pencils and orange leaves. plaintive synths and historical montages. Tezeta (Nostalgia) played to completion at the end. I had a lumpy throat cry on the plane, both with rage toward amerikkka and anguish for so so many miscarriages of justice against young black men.
Also realized how few first person perspective movies I could recall from memory. moving Rear Window and V/H/S closet tot he top of my list
This is what I imagine it feels to be on lithium
I picked this up again after 4 months, in part because Paramount+ had buffering issues and I wasn't willing to deal with the awkwardness on top of long pauses.
Glad I did because I found myself laugh-crying during the final episode -- a grand metaphor of labor to the soundtrack of Alice Coltrane. Safdie is brilliant, and Nathan Fielder is a surprisingly convincing actor. Emma Stone's pained smile is the best in the industry.
