messy and interesting, generally fun to watch -- i loved the visual effects & the initial conceit: seeing people's traumas take physical form, empathy vs. projection, the vulnerability & power of being "seen."
but there's no forgiving a rape scene that implies the assault was to the victim's benefit.i watched without knowledge of the manga & learning more about the original story kinda helps me see why the movie is like that. many gaps left unfilled.
