Blown away by this. I'd always treated The Ipcress File as a novelty - a film made purely to be the opposite of James Bond. In a sense that's true; with key Bond figures like producer Harry Saltzman and composer John Barry involved, it's pretty clear they wanted an opportunity to go the other way in the spy genre. And the film relishes depicting Harry Palmer as the workmanlike, rather than suave, agent. He goes to the supermarket and he…

Saturday turned into a Renee Zellweger double bill and I’m not complaining. I think this is the first non-Bridget film I’ve seen her in and she’s just a fantastic actor, so endearing whatever accent she puts on.

This probably exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t expecting a rambunctious comedy but that’s very much what it is, and it’s very good at being that. Cameron Crowe’s script is magnificent and there’s a presence and style in his direction that so many modern films lack.

Cuba Gooding Jr’s Oscar was very well deserved, and this may be Tom Cruise’s best performance too.

This is one of the worst films I’ve ever seen but one of the most memorable cinema experiences. I nearly pissed myself laughing.

Watch Peter Dinklage repeatedly cuck himself in front of letter-shagging Siobhan Roy from Wish, while he belts out some of the worst musical numbers known to man with enough misplaced enthusiasm to rival Alan Partridge’s rendition of Goldfinger.

Witness the poetic unraveling of a baffling script which provides the same character development as a comedy sketch, is…

Hard to do anything other than shrug at the mediocrity of this film as the low quality of Marvel releases since 2019 means this isn't an anomaly in that sense, though the use of D&W as a fourth wall-breaking mea culpa to Trojan Horse a desperate cash-grab into theatres is a uniquely odious move.

Deadpool insults Marvel, Disney and Feige, but is essentially just his jester, with the privilege to mock the king and the institution, to be patted on…
