    At its core, it’s a rape revenge thriller. But it intensifies and obscures a lot visually to represent her trauma and suppressed rage. Can’t go into spoilers of course, but the way the film’s told makes it more dreamlike. As in trauma is something to sink in, and that retaliation is something you can just jump into.

    (As part of Borderlines Film Festival.) What....A....Film. Without a doubt, my favourite new release in the past year. 

    Hopkins is unspeakably phenomenal in this. Every gesture and intonation in his voice is so authentic, you forget he’s acting. And Colman is outstanding showing how much she’s struggling to cope.

    To say the editing is brilliant is an understatement. It puts you into Hopkins’ head and throws you off so many times, you’ll be disoriented. Zeller took the play he wrote…

    A worthy Best Picture winner. It’s actually a miracle it won this. I love that such a quiet, intimate piece which simply observes this community (described in the film as The American Pioneers’ successors) was recognised.
