Had a fun time with this fun but slight Bong English language joint. The mugging from Ruffalo grated on me and there's a good 2 or 3 characters whose entire narrative just drops away at a certain point but Pattinson is in the pocket and commits wholeheartedly and there’s ideas here, just not tons of cohesion.
Unfortunately I’d just seen an AMAZING miniseries with doubling (can’t spoil what that is yet iykyk) so it did pale in comparison a lil.

This movie gave us the best showcase we’ve ever had of Anapela’s talent and that is a G I F T

Students also v good and I love to hear a choir sing 💖
Script problems up the wazoo but it’s an effective crowd pleaser, no question

    The Exorcist: Believer

    ★½

Devoid of soul. The original Exorcist was genuinely confronting and unsettling. This is relentlessly bland, resorting to endless jumpscares and ponderous soliloques by character actors trying to give some import to processed studio claptrap. I can hear the writer's straining desperately to incorporate IP character Regan into the plot. When I saw Ann Dowd on a suburban street, it just reminded me that I'd so much rather be watching her in The Leftovers, a superior meditation on faith and religion. If you want to see genuinely daring, disturbing horror, look to indies like Talk to Me and leave these IP dinosaurs in the dust. 🤮
