Forgot just how fucking hard Hero goes in pretty much every aspect. Perfect drama, incredible performances and some perfectly choreographed fight sequences. Hero is an incredibly fun, purposefully corny action romp. The cinematography is unmatched, too, so even if you hate it's goofy take on a tale from the era of the seven kingdoms, it's pretty to look at anyway. Adore.
A bizarre remake that strips everything good from the original, I can't believe I took so long to see this given how much I loved the source material but absolutely loathed everything about this. Boring, uncharismatic and completely formulaic. Naomi Scott is well and truly the only highlight here, but even she can't save this trainwreck.
A mesmerizing and stylish (but incredibly safe) adaptation that entrances you from it's first frame. If you've ever enjoyed an Eggers film you probably already know what to expect here - though the way he frames and shoots everything is just....gorgeous. Lily-Rose Depp elevates an otherwise usually two-dimensional role and, of course, Bill Skarsgård enchants as Orlok.
