The Hypnotist 2012
Lasse Hallstrom directs this rather typical Scandi Crime film. The cast is uniformly excellent, particularly the leads, Mikael Persbrandt and Lena Olin. Very exciting, though not withou plot holes! Enjoyable

In a Better World 2010
A 2010 Danish thriller, directed by Susanne Bier and starring Micael Persbrandt and Trine Dyrhom (Legacy). A much lauded film, winnind Best Foreign Language film at the Academy Awards. Many worthy and difficult human themes tackled here including war, marriage and fatherhood. Perhaps not quite probing enough.

Mansfield Park 1999
A lovely 1999 adaptation of Mansfield Park, which sidesteps the problem of Fanny Price being a less popular heroine than usual in Jane Austen novels, by using the talented and characterful Frances O'Connor in the title role, who brings more spirit to what some readers found a passive character in the novel! An excellent cast, with Johnny Lee Miller as Edmund Bertram and Hugh Bonneville as Mr Rushforth.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens 2015
Back on form and everything we love is there. The ending was unworthy though - cheesy and unnecessary - like a trailer for the next episode. All acting was good or good enough. Charlotte Ripley was perhaps a little "Keira Knightly" but inoffensive. Harrison had humour, nuance and charisma.
