  oh Matilda, the gem that you are. i can’t believe it’s been well over a decade since the last time i revisited you, my old friend. aside from the misogynistic gender stereotypes, what is there not to love about this Danny DeVito directed film? A few friends of mine had a bone to pick with The editing style (a.k.a. zoom-ins incredibly close to Miss Trunchbull’s face and mouth area) but i am a strong supporter of including these bizarre techniques!…

  this might just be the perfect balance between unbearably annoying and jaw-droppingly beautiful that a film has ever managed to create. forgive me, Wicked (2024), i was unaware of your game and unfairly underestimated your potential. if this came out when i was in middle school, you could bet your bottom dollar that it would have led me to becoming the most insufferable theater kid. thank Oz i was able to avoid that fate 🙏🙏🙏

  i know i've been rating movies 5 stars all willy-nilly lately, but WOW. as i've gotten older, rewatching old movies i remember vaguely from my childhood has never given me the experience i'd hoped for. Uptown Girls took my expectations, flipped them over on their head, and left me speechless. i felt every scene so deeply in my soul, it's like there was a piece of me that was missing, waiting for me to rewatch this film in its entirety. as they say, "Uptown Girls gets better with age, I get better with Uptown Girls."
