I really enjoyed this movie on a few different levels.
Firstly, the filmmaking itself is fanfuckingtastic. Simple, lingering shots that squeeze so much into a small square frame create a distinct air of claustrophobia - combined perfectly with grim silences.
I particularly enjoyed the sequence when Ethan Hawke is being berated by the corrupt pastor and his accomplice/businessman at the diner. The booth is so cramped - it felt like the table was being pushed back more and more, crushing…
